RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

MANAGING ENVIRONMENTAL ASSETS

WE SEE AROUND CORNERS

When managing environmental assets, what happens later matters as much as what’s needed right now. That’s why we evaluate the immediate need and simultaneously work to anticipate future impacts – both financially and environmentally.

Our involvement at the forefront of innovation in the industry ensures you have access to the latest advances in the field – advances that help increase recovery through the intelligent reuse of materials and avoid costly remediation.

Our capacity to anticipate future impacts is also informed by our expert witness work, which allows us to analyze the failures of others and apply these lessons directly to your projects. Our expertise in Resource Management includes:

PRE-PROJECT DUE DILIGENCE & PLANNING

IT ALWAYS STARTS WITH CLEAR COMMUNICATION

Planning every new venture and protecting any new asset begins with due diligence. Proper project evaluation and clear communication will help you understand the financial implications, both immediately and long into the future. We’ll identify opportunities and avoid pitfalls, and make sure you know exactly what to expect before any project begins.

S+G performs a variety of pre-project due diligence including ASTM Environmental Site Assessments, Site Life Evaluations, Long-Term Development Planning and Financial Planning.

FACILITY DESIGN & PERMITTING

TESTED & TRUE

Since 1991, S+G has been employing innovative and tested techniques to maximize return on investment for the solid waste community. We were involved in the promulgation of RCRA Subtitle-D rules, and we’ve built a solid foundation based on real-world participation and understanding.

Our team has permitted Subtitle-D landfill cells in a variety of regulatory and physical terrains.

PROJECT PROCUREMENT & CONSTRUCTION

ACCURATE BIDS, WELL MANAGED BUDGETS

In the last five years, we have provided bid procurement and oversight services for over $80M in projects. Our vast experience with construction and financial modeling produce accurate bid projections for construction projects of any size.

S+G personnel have provided closure design and construction quality assurance for numerous landfills across the U.S. Our experience includes projects for double-lined landfill cells, single-liner systems, leachate collection systems, transfer stations, and C&D landfills.

BUDGETING, FEASIBILITY & FINANCIAL MODELING ENGINEERS

FINDING THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY FORWARD

We provide a whole array of financial evaluations each designed to do one thing – to find the most cost effective and efficient path forward. Our services include:

      • A variety of solid waste facility financial evaluations (including transfer stations, material recovery facilities, etc.)
      • Rate studies
      • Remediation system evaluations
      • Landfill gas to energy evaluations to determine if an LFGTE project is right for your facility
      • Assistance in negotiations for public-private partnerships
      • Evaluation of facilities for purchase

    FACILITY CLOSURE & POST-CLOSURE ENGINEERS

    GETTING CLOSURE

When a facility has reached capacity, we design and implement a closure system that is effective for the short and long-term. Our professionals have provided closure design and quality assurance for over 200 acres of landfill. We also provide post-closure care, including cover inspections and environmental monitoring.

To enhance recovery and limit environmental degradation, we have also designed plans for mining of unlined landfills. Our landfill closure innovations include the first membrane exposed cap and the first implementation of a “rain gutter” drainage system on a cap.

SITE CHARACTERIZATION & NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

    LEVERAGING EVERY ASSET

While our specialty is solid waste management, our focus remains fixed on the best management of all resources, including soil and airspace. We offer you designs that maximize the value of your site, both in the short and long-term.

We also understand that the financial framework of a site’s assets is essential to maximize profit and lower costs. The need for short-term financial independence and long-term financial stability informs every design, on every project, every time.
