Smith+Gardner Promotes Pieter K. Scheer, P.E. to Vice President
Raleigh, NC – Stacey A. Smith, P.E., president of Smith Gardner, Inc. has announced that senior engineer, Pieter Scheer, P.E., has been promoted to the company’s vice president. In his new role, Mr. Scheer will utilize his more than two decades of experience to developing employee talent and strong client relationships to ensure the continued success of Smith+Gardner throughout the state of North Carolina.

A licensed professional engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, Scheer received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from NC State University. Prior to joining Smith+Gardner as a staff engineer in 1992, he worked alongside company founder Greg Richardson at two other area engineering firms. Scheer has successfully designed and managed municipal solid waste (MSW), construction and demolition debris (C&D), and industrial landfill projects in multiple states. He has significant experience with the siting, design, permitting and construction of lined landfill containment cells and closures, including the design of multiple piggyback (waste-over-waste) landfills, as well as extensive knowledge in the preparation of bid and construction issue documents and in managing construction
