Stacey Smith Participates on Campbell University Engineering Panel
Stacey A. Smith, P.E., President and Senior Engineer of Smith+Gardner, was a participant on Campbell Engineering School’s National Engineer’s-Week panel on Wednesday, February 20th. As part of the four-person panel presenting to the University’s National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) student chapter, Mr. Smith discussed topics including; being an entrepreneur and an engineer, the entrepreneurial mindset, new technology, the transition from engineering student to a career in engineering, and professional licensure. This discussion opportunity helped engineering students have insight into being a Professional Engineer, building a successful engineering firm, and what the career path of the Professional Engineer might entail.
According to the University website, the University’s NSPE Chapter co-sponsors Campbell’s annual National Engineer’s Week activities, volunteers at the NSPE MathCounts competition, meets with NSPE/PENC (Professional Engineers of North Carolina) professional members, attends the annual PENC Summer Conference, hosts a variety of external speakers, and offers members opportunities to become involved in the School of Engineering, the broader campus community and the region.
