John Fearrington, P.E. began his career at Smith Gardner, Inc. and currently serves as a Senior Project Engineer. Mr. Fearrington has over 10 years of experience at solid waste facilities across the southeastern United States focusing on design, construction, temporary closures, and landfill capital planning. In 2021, Mr. Fearrington was recognized as one of Waste 360’s 40 Under 40 award recipients that recognizes inspiring and innovative professionals under the age of 40 whose work in waste, recycling and organics has made a significant contribution to the industry.

BIOGRAPHY

Mr. Fearrington began his career in the solid waste industry, where he served as a part-time employee at Smith Gardner, Inc. Since joining full-time, he has managed various solid waste facility construction projects such as Subtitle D cell construction, permanent and temporary closures, landfill gas collection and control systems, and stormwater management infrastructure. Mr. Fearrington has also assisted public and private clients outside the landfill industry to develop solar and composting facilities.

Mr. Fearrington is a licensed engineer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Kansas, and Virginia.

Mr. Fearrington holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.
